ChatGPT's new image generator shattered my expectations - and now it's free to try

2025-05-09 06:45:02| Spiritual Career Counseling

OpenAI may have kicked off the text-to-image generation craze with its DALL-E model, but since those earlier glory days, the AI company's offering has been lapped by much more capable image models. As a result, when OpenAI released its latest and greatest GPT-4o image generation model, I was skeptical. After testing it, I have changed my mind entirely. Getting started When DALL-E first launched, it lived on its standalone website; since then, it has moved to ChatGPT. The move came with many benefits, including the ability to ask the AI chatbot for an image you want in the same interface where you are already chatting about something else, thereby eliminating the need for constant context switching. With the release of GPT-4o image generation, OpenAI kept this convenient format, switching the default image generator from DALL-E to GPT-4o for paid subscribers. As a result, it was super easy to start creating new images from my ChatGPT Plus account. All I had to do was enter the prompt fo...

Putting Fort Knox on the Blockchain: How Tokenized Gold Could Revolutionize How We Move & Store Value

2025-05-09 06:45:02| Spiritual Career Counseling

On March 5, President Trump signed an executive order creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR). The SBR will be capitalized initially with cryptoassets obtained by the Department of Treasury through criminal and civil asset forfeiture worth about $6.9 billion. However, this could just be the start: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, both well-known Bitcoin bulls, are now authorized to develop budget-neutralstrategies for acquiring additional BTC, provided that those strategies impose no incremental costs on American taxpayers. One bold idea floated by Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis is to 'monetize' the gold being held in Fort Knox and swap some of it for Bitcoin. Right now, gold is being held by the U.S. government at "book value" of about $42/oz, the same price as in 1973, a far cry from the approximately $3,000/oz trading price today. Indeed, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said the U.S. will move to monetize its assets which many interpret...

Sarah Snook had one picture-perfect Broadway debut. The Emmy-winning actress, 37, on Thursday, March 27 was the toast of the town, as The Picture of Dorian Gray writer Kip Williams' stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde's 1890 novel opened to great acclaim at the Music Box Theatre in New York City. Photographers captured a grinning Snook as she took her celebratory bow after her tour-de-force performance alongside a crew of stagehands who help her bring to life the story of a young man who trades his soul for eternal youth. Snook, 37, is the only one acting in The Picture of Dorian Gray though she's not alone in the production. She plays 26 characters throughout the 2-hour play, using a combination of quick costume changes and sharp acting choices to distinguish between them all. They're then presented through incredible live and projected performances, captured by an intricately choreographed collection of on-stage cameras skillfully navigating the action.Succession's Sarah Snook Reve...

Why is Southeast Asia turning to nuclear power? DW 04/01/2025

2025-05-09 06:45:02| Spiritual Career Counseling

Southeast Asia's only nuclear power plant is located in the province of Bataan in the Philippines, around 40 miles (64 kilometers) from the capital, Manila.Built in the 1970s, the Bataan facility was mothballed before it ever opened amid the political instability of the end of the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship and in the wake of the 1986 disaster at Ukraine's Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which killed at least 30 people and spewed radioactive fallout over much of the Northern Hemisphere. But now, under the government of the late dictator'sson, Ferdinand "Bongbong" MarcosJr., the Philippines is turning to nuclear power as one solution to satisfying the country's rapidly growing energy demand, and as a way of reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and thereby curbing harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In February, Philippine Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla said his country was"paving the way for a safe, sustainable, and responsible nuclear energy program that will secure our nation...

The Cost of Betrayal: A Reflection on Loyalty and Consequence - The Zambian Observer

2025-05-09 06:45:02| Spiritual Career Counseling

The Cost of Betrayal: A Reflection on Loyalty and ConsequenceBy Dr Mwelwa I am Bemba, and I write this with a heavy heart. It pains me to say these words, but truth must be spoken, even when it cuts deep. I do not write as an outsider throwing stones; I write as one among you, ashamed of what I see, yet hoping that we can wake up before it is too late. A lion that fails to teach its cubs to hunt only raises prey, and today, I askwhat have we become?During the Bill 10 debate, the Patriotic Front (PF) tried to lure known UPND members into betraying the Zambian people. They promised them riches, comfort, and political survival, but they stood firm. They refused to sell the nation for a few pieces of silver. This was a test of integrity, and some passed. But today, as another moment of truth approaches, I fear that the ones who will betray Zambia will not be strangersit will be my own brothers from the North and East. Those whose names are already written in the pages of infamy, those wh...

Happy birthday, Apple Watch: 10 best features that changed how we track our health, ranked

2025-05-09 02:45:04| Spiritual Career Counseling

In 2015, Jony Ive, Apple's then-industrial designer, introduced the Apple Watch and explained the design decisions behind the wearable that would eventually revolutionize health technology. "You can't determine a boundary between the physical object and the software," Ive said. Also:Your next Apple Watch could have a feature that transforms healthcareOn the Apple Watch's 10th birthday, this concept of boundary-less-ness still holds. Eight years after the iPhone's debut, Apple created a device that blended into the wearer's life, with technology that tracked steps, maintained connections with friends and family, and even saved a few lives along the way. Sure, the Apple Watch debuted during Fitbit's reign, but the smartwatch, aided by constant feature innovation and mainstream ubiquity, trumped its competition in the long run.Tim Cook has said that Apple's greatest contributions will be through its developments in health -- and nowhere is this more true than through the Apple Watch. SpaceX Launches Atomic Clocks With Lasers To Test Einstein Theory

2025-05-09 02:45:04| Spiritual Career Counseling

ToplineTwo cutting-edge atomic clocks the most accurate ever created have launched on a SpaceX rocket and are on their way to the International Space Station. In the coming months, they will use lasers to synchronize global clocks using global navigation satellite networks. Key Facts The Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space will redefine how we measure time, according to the European Space Agency, which developed it. It will transmit the most accurate time signal ever from space and create an internet of clocks, comparing them to measure the flow of time. That will help scientists study Earths gravity. According to ESA, an atomic clock measures time by observing an atoms transition from an excited state to a ground state with a fixed frequency. The ACES clocks PHARAO and SHM will be used to test fundamental physics from orbit, including Albert Einsteins theory of general relativity and the search for dark matter, said ESA. It will do that by defining how time and space are rel...
