Production costs of Easter eggs are soaring due to rising prices of cocoa beans with consumers set to be hit in the pocket by double. Global financial uncertainty due to controversial US president Donald Trumps worldwide tariff threats, climate change, and labour costs have been attributed. As well as eggs costing over 20, and some as high as 50, shoppers also face shrinkflation as manufacturers reduce egg sizes to offset rising costs, according to surveys. Expert chocolatier company Lusso in Ballincollig, Co Cork, is one of many that has been impacted by soaring cocoa prices ahead of Easter. Ian Kerrigan from Lusso said: "All of our Easter eggs and products are being driven up by the price of cocoa. We make all of our eggs and all of our products, so the second the price of the cocoa goes up, we have to raise our prices in some way because we want to maintain the quality of the product."
