The explosion injured six people, including three foreign tourists, a tour guide, and two crew members, one of them the boats captain. All were rushed to the hospital following the terrifying incident. The ill-fated vessel, Thana Marine 555, had departed from Tha Chalong Pier earlier in the day, carrying 33 tourists and a guide for a snorkelling and sightseeing trip around the idyllic island. But the trip took a dangerous turn around 9am, shortly after arriving at Koh Mai Thon, when the boat reportedly developed engine trouble.
