Power tariff cut another step towards economic stability - Daily Times

On its way to steering country out of persisting economic turmoil, the government a couple of days back took another leap forward for lessening the power tariff burden from domestic and industrial consumers.As the soaring electricity prices had been playing havoc with consumers for last two decades, the coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif came out with another relief in power prices.We are announcing another relief for power consumers, stated the Prime Minister announcing reduction in electricity prices with an average Rs 7.41 per unit cut for domestic consumers and Rs 7.69 per unit cut for industrial consumers.This is another step towards economic stability as the government aims to sustain progress in economic sector, Shehbaz Sharif said announcing that in June 2024 the per unit price for industrial sector was Rs 58.5 per unit which was first reduced by Rs 10.3 in June 2024 and now by another Rs 7.69 per unit.Seeing in present circumstances, it is yet anothe...

Doctors in two end-of-life cases can be named, the UK supreme court has ruled, after the parents of two children said they wanted to tell their story.Isaiah Haastrup, aged 12 months, and Zainab Abbasi, six, were at the centre of life-support treatment disputes at the high court in London before their deaths in 2018 and 2019 respectively.During the proceedings, court orders were put in place preventing doctors involved in their care from being publicly named indefinitely.In a written ruling, the president of the supreme court, Lord Reed, said the need for restriction of freedom of speech must be established convincingly and that this had not been done by the two NHS trusts in the case.In the leading judgment, Lord Reed and Lord Briggs said: Weight can be given to the importance of protecting the medical and other staff of public hospitals against unfounded accusations and consequent abuse.However, the court should also bear in mind that the treatment of patients in public hospital...
