In practice it is really easy and effective to colour the regrowth of someone who is naturally very white to a darker shade, to achieve what I call root shadowing. The problem is, as the hair grows you are going to have a stubborn banner of darker hair colour appearing on the higher sections of the hair. Now, as I think you are saying above, you could try using a regular 7.0 colourant with a demi developer (like 2% strength). However, I cannot be sure the colourant would actually fade off consistently. So its likely youd get a lot of bannering which would mess up the overall look you are hoping to achieve. My professional advice to you, would be to initially colour your hair with an 8.0 medium blonde permanent colour to create a good solid base shade. Apply this colourant throughout the hair.
