UK businesses are set to face a multibillion-pound wave of higher costs this week as higher wages and tax increases come into force. Retail and hospitality bosses have warned that higher labour costs and taxes are set to push up prices for customers across the UK. A raft of measures linked to the Labour Governments first budget will come into force on Tuesday April 1, including a rise in the national minimum wage and higher property tax payments. This will be followed by changes to national insurance contribution (NICs) payments from Saturday April 6. Millions of UK workers will benefit from a rise in the national minimum wage to 12.21 an hour on Tuesday, representing an increase of 77p. The move has forced many of the UKs largest employers to increase their rates of pay, with supermarket groups Tesco and Sainsburys among firms to announce they would hike their basic pay above the new minimum. Tropical Cyclone Errol could intensify to category 3 over Kimberley

Preparations in Western Australia's north are under way for a tropical cyclone likely to form off the state's northern coast on Sunday morning.At 2pm WST on Saturday, a tropical low was about 335 kilometres north of Kalumburu and moving west south-west off WA's Kimberley region.The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says there is a high chance it will become a tropical cyclone by Sunday morning, before continuing its path parallel to the Kimberley coast.If it does form, the cyclone will be named Errol and the latest projections show it could intensify to a category 3 system by Tuesday morning.The bureau's warning zone extends from Kalumburu to Kuri Bay, with the watch zone from Kuri Bay to Cockatoo Island.The north and north-west Kimberley coast could experience stronger winds and wave activity overnight and during SundayThe bureau's seven-day forecast projects the cyclone will move further out to sea, before moving back towards the west Kimberley coast at the end of the week.Rosita's 25-year...
