Both double berths offer plenty of space, and the heads are conveniently positioned for use while underway. Spindrift has enjoyed a high level of annual care from her owners, who purchased her new. She has been kept smart and shipshape throughout her life, and as a result, she shows very little of the wear or ageing so often present. Her mechanical system has been maintained to the same high standard, with an average of just 28 engine hours per yearreflecting light yet consistent use. The gelcoat retains a good shine, the canvas work is tidy, and both the mainsail and genoa were replaced in 2021. Register with Boatshed to see 88 extra photos of this Gaff Rigged Ketch .Built in 1953 by Sakuth Shipyard in Germany, this stunning 17m gaff ketch (23m includes her bowsprit) really is one of the lucky ones! She has been in the care of Arctic Shipyard in Cowes who specialise in wooden ships and their refit and maintenance of her is fully documented and photographed. All the work was carried out with the plan to preserve her heritage whilst making sure that she could continue to be sailed and enjoyed by her crews for many many years to come Since her relaunch in April 2025 she has been gainfully employed, operating as a successful accommodation business wowing visitors to Cowes. Her interior is just fantastic, traditional in appearance yet fully modernised offering a unique holiday experience. She is in commission, previously coded she could be again and her crew quarters are private, accessed through the wheelhouse so returning to charter is certainly viable. Personally, I can imagine staying aboard and sailing out in the evening to watch the sunset whilst dining in the bay! There is so much to say about this boat, I stepped aboard and didn't want to leave! Please ask questions, it will be a pleasure to find the answers! These boat details are subject to contract. DeFever 60 Raised Pilothouse Trawler w/ Portuguese Bridge & Flybridge REF#346422
2025-11-26 21:45:57| Boatshed.com Recent Boats
Register with Boatshed to see 74 extra photos of this DeFever 60 Raised Pilothouse Trawler w/ Portuguese Bridge & Flybridge. This is a 1974 DeFever 60 Raised Pilot House Trawler. She was built in Kanagawa, Japan by Sasaki Shipbuilders. Her hull and interior is constructed of Nara Oak, Burmese Teak and Mahogany. Decks are a combination of teak and fiberglass. She projects the rugged design features DeFevers are known for. The high bow, a raised pilothouse with the Portuguese bridge, and large upper deck with a davit crane and flybridge with views for miles and linked controls. Unexpectedly, the current owner has passed and the family has no desire to continue the cruising lifestyle, let alone the restoration. This unfortunate event has clearly left the next phase of refit at pause. The vessel arrived in Port Townsend under her own power and is still lying there. Port Townsend is a maritime mecca for DIY refitting, local shipwrights, and the gateway to the San Juans, BC and beyond. To date, this iconic DeFever 60 has completed the first phase of a complete restoration. With over $120,000 invested in her preservation over the last 6 months, clearly, completion to bristol condition will require additional investment in time and resources. Currently, she has a new hull from the keel upwards, to the main deck, stem to stern has been completely restored. This is the lions share of her foundation. The new owner(s) will see this as a rare opportunity to acquire an iconic vessel that will deliver satisfaction and pride of ownership for the next generation. Upon completion of sale, 60% of the seller's proceeds will be donated to Seattle Children's Hospital and Northwest Harvest. For more information contact Waterline Boats, LLC. These boat details are subject to contract. Note: Offers on the asking price will be considered.
